In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxAbuja, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxAbuja event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
Technology the Language for Development is on how the building of a stable institutional frame work that reinforces the acquisition of ideas can bring about development.
TEDxAbuja 2010 begins the quest for a better life in our societies. Technology serving as anything usefully invented by a mind, not just hammer or gadgets like laptops but also laws and cities. The big questions here are what do we have? How do we use what we have or can build to make the most out of life?
At TEDxAbuja 2010, we will set the stage for Nigerian’s leading visionaries, Icons, Geniuses, and Mavericks to speak to an energised group of thinkers, as well as to the world at large. At this invitation-only event, a selected group of people that have found or are seeking innovative approaches will witness a back-to-back schedule of talks, performances and other multimedia surprises showcasing “Ideas Worth Spreading” from a carefully selected presenters whom the event organisers feel have something valuable to contribute towards development.
