What is TEDxAbuja?
TEDxAbuja is a platform to share inspired ideas that are transforming Nigeria. TEDxAbuja will hold in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy. It will attract attendees from across the country and the burgeoning Nigerian Diaspora. TEDxAbuja is locally organised by a team of committed professionals in the spirit of TED: “ideas worth spreading”, devoted to leveraging the power of ideas to change the world.
- To curate a forum that will use the power of ideas to change the actions and attitudes of Nigeria’s vibrant population.
- To bring together people who have found, or seek innovative approaches for Nigeria’s biggest challenges.
- To celebrate Nigeria by showcasing the talent, successes and struggles of Nigeria’s brightest.
What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxAbuja, where x = independently organised TED event. At our TEDxAbuja events, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organised.
What is TED?
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.
